The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the United Nations organization that promotes volunteerism to support peace and development worldwide. Volunteerism is a powerful means of engaging people in tackling development challenges and it can transform the pace and nature of development. After 30 years of experience in the field, UNV China has conducted a comprehensive research aiming to analyse the achievements, developments and challenges on volunteerism in China. During this analysis a set of strategic recommendations has been developed and thus formed this ‘State of Volunteerism in China’ report to mark the 30th anniversary of UNV in the country and the 10th anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers ( IYV+10). The report captures the current status of Volunteerism in China and presents an insight into existing drivers and trends, and represents a valuable reference tool for policy makers, academia, organizations and individual volunteers.
