The UN system in China is pleased to present this Appeal to the international community and hopes that Governments, foundations and the private sector will partner with the UN on this important initiative. A strong partnership with the international community will provide needed resources for the United Nations system in China to help meet the urgent early recovery needs of the victims of the Wenchuan earthquake.
The UN China Appeal for Early Recovery Support of an estimated US$33 million, marks the first step in the UN’s mid-to-long term assistance plans. This will then be followed up by a package of support for longer term reconstruction once the Government of China has identified its needs.
