Health for all, everyone, everywhere!

On 7 April of each year, we celebrate World Health Day to mark the anniversary of our founding—our birthday! On this day, we strive to take another step towards our goal of building a better, healthier future for people all over the world.

Each year, we select a theme that highlights a health issue relevant to people. We are very excited to announce that this year’s theme is “Universal Health Coverage (UHC)!”

Why is Universal Health Coverage Important?

Up to half the population in some countries in Asia and the Pacific lack essential health services. Achieving universal health coverage would have a direct positive impact on these population’s health and welfare.

Universal access to health services:

1) Enables people to better contribute to their families and communities;
2) Ensures that children can go to school and obtain the education they deserve;
3) Prevents people from being pushed into poverty when paying for health services.

In sum, universal health coverage is a commitment to improving the wellbeing of all people, everywhere.

Therefore, on World Health Day 2018, we ask you to join us as we seek to realize “Health for all, everyone, everywhere!”
